Ruinas (Ruins)                                      Milan, Spring 2002

Galizia, Spain 2001

What is left from the Mill is only Ruins
Surrounded by trash degradation and pain
Ruins, only Ruins
Fragmented, abandoned and forgotten.
Four stone wheels in the old Mill.

This place is a temple where I would like to honor the memory of Bread.
Here the people did the flour to feed many generations.
A temple for Man’s work, for the fertile Earth and for the sacred Water.

Now, it is only ruins, degradation, and abandon. Stupid men without memory.
The peace, the hearth of the family and the bread slip away in the water.
Missing the lost emotions, my Tears flow in the current.
However, they are not able to clean the pollution that accumulated over the years.

A Poem by Miriam Di Fiore
